Dr. Audrey Smock Amoah

LOC Chair

Dr Audrey Smock Amoah (FGIP) is a seasoned development planner with over 24 years of experience in Local Governance, Decentralisation, Gender and Development. She holds a PhD in Planning from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, where she also earned her BSc and Msc degrees in Planning and Development Policy and Planning, respectively. She has advanced professional training from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), the Danida Fellowship Centre -Copenhagen and the University of Ghana Business School.

Dr Amoah has served across district, regional and national levels of the Local Government Service and currently serves as the Director General of the National Development Planning Commission. She is a fellow of the Ghana Institute of Planning.

Prof. Matilda Steiner-Asiedu

LOC Vice Chair

Prof. Matilda Steiner-Asiedu is a Nutrition Professor at the University of Ghana, Legon. She holds a BSc in Home Science from the University of Ghana, a BSc in Biology/Chemistry, an MPhil, and PhD in Nutrition from the University of Bergen, Norway, and an MPH from Brown University, USA.  She is the former Dean of the School of Biological Sciences at the University of Ghana. From 1993 to the present, she has been teaching and supervising local and international students studying nutrition, food science, agriculture, medicine, dietetics, and public health at both undergraduate and graduate levels at the University of Ghana. She trains nurses, medical officers, dietitians, agricultural extension officers, and staff of Small and Medium-scale Enterprises in the food industry. She is also an adjunct professor at New York University’s Accra Campus, where she teaches Global Nutrition and Food Culture and Globalization. She led the team that conducted the Ghana Zero Hunger Strategic Review in 2017 and was named the 2012 Laureate of the African Union Kwame Nkrumah Award for Women in Science in the Life and Earth Sciences section.
